2004 Season - Week 21
Dynasty
To win 3 Championships in 4 years is to truly be a dynasty. The first modern dynasty was the 60’s Packers, then we had the 70’s Steelers, 80’s 49er’s and 90’s Cowboys and now we’ve got Marcus Cooper. Yes that’s right Marcus beat Mark in BUMSBowl VI, beat Chief in BUMSBowl VII and last night defeated Mark 27-24 when Donovan McNabb threw a TD pass with only 1 minute and 48 seconds left in the game. Oh yes and New England also won their 3rd title in 4 years as well. A shout out to Andy H who must have been a proud man when Deion Branch was named Superbowl XXXIX MVP - Andy selected Branch in the 5th round of the 2002 BUMS draft for $0.5million when Branch entered the NFL as a rookie out of Louisville. Yet once again one of the BUMS is ahead of the game.
Supergames
Chief made a nice profit after he and AP were the only 2 brave enough to go for an Eagle win and although they were wrong he did have Akers to score first and was just 3 points off the half-time score (AP was just 4 away). Chief made it a £29 night when his team scored the highest points (33) as he moved ahead of Marcus and Dave G when McNabb scored with 1:48 to go. Marcus made it a very nice night by scooping £13.33 when he was just 3 points off the correct final score and shared the quarterly predictions with Cheryl & David S as they got the opening quarter tie and final winner correct. (£3.33 for Cher and Stampy).
SUPER FOOD
A huge thanks to Cheryl for supplying a balanced diet of Philadelphia CheeseSteaks and Boston Beans plus Chicken, Corn, Mushrooms and more and to H ‘The Concessions King’ for the desserts plus Johnnie ‘Doughnut Boy’ Bowden for the Krispy Kreme supplies. With 10 people in attendance it was one of the biggest and best Superbowl gatherings so far.
ALL-BUMS 2004
In the most wide-open voting yet 47 players and coaches received at least 1 vote to make the team. Terrell Owens received the most votes (23) and made his sixth All-BUMS team in 7 years, with a record fifth start. Marvin Harrison makes it 4 in a row (3 as a starter). Peyton Manning makes just his first start at QB (he backed up Daunte Culpepper in 2000). The roles are reversed this year as Culpepper makes his 3rd appearance (this time as a back-up after starting in 2000 and 2002). LaDainian Tomlinson and Jerome Bettis start in the backfield for the first time and another notable first time starter is kicker Adam Vinatieri.
BUMS on Seats
The Superbowl may be over but there is one last gathering scheduled for next Monday at 6:30pm as we meet at BUMS HQ to see the AFC take on the NFC in the Pro-Bowl.
